  • Established in 2021, Arunai Medical College and Hospital is affiliated with Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai, and is run by the Jeeva Educational Trust. The college is situated at Velu Nagar, Thenmathur in the Tiruvannamalai district. The college is well known for the number and quality of research papers published in different departments of medical science. 
  • The college is pretty popular among medical students who want to serve the world as future doctors because of the quality education provided at reasonable costs. The academic programs at Arunai Medical College include UG-MBBS which is a 4-year Programme (additional 1 compulsory rotating internship) with a total intake of 150 students per year.

Infrastructure and Facilities 

The college is situated at Thenmathur and boasts a 100-acre lush green campus which is now been expanded to 150 acres. The facilities include:

  1. Campus: The campus includes a hospital and the main college building, a sports region, and laboratories. The hospital has a capacity of 350 beds in total for all departments (surgery, orthopedics, etc). 

  1. Hostels: Hostels at Arunai at built to match global standards. The rooms at the hostels are well-furnished and clean and hygienic. There are also fully air-conditioned rooms available for students.  There are separate hostels available for boys (two hostels) and girls (three hostels). Here are the details of the total rooms available:

    • 64 rooms - Boys hostel 

    • 32 rooms - Girl's hostel 

  1. Library - Central library hall 

    • The library is home to around 12,000 books which include NOOF books and journals. It is also equipped with the OPAC service and an E-library. 

  1. Sports facilities -

    • There are separate playgrounds for different sports like cricket, football, etc. along with outdoor sports, there are also facilities for indoor games like chess, carrom, etc. 

  1. Laboratories: The college is home to modern laboratories like the pathology and microbiology lab. Apart from these, there is also a biochemistry lab for research purposes. 

  1. Medical Education Unit: Spread over 1125 sq. m, the unit is responsible for conducting medical workshops and skill lab sessions.
