About College 

  • The biggest and oldest medical college in Asia, B.J. Medical College, which bears the name of Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Medical School, is a part of the municipal hospital in Ahmedabad.It has a long history. When the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital was built in 1871, it became associated with the Ahmedabad Medical School.
  • Only 14 students from the school's initial cohort chose to pursue training as hospital assistants. The college is located at Haripura, Asarwa, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The institution serves as the state-wide hub for the admission of MBBS students.
  • About 250 students are accepted yearly to the institution offering the highest medical education. The college has received praise from the World Health Organization (WHO) for its creative use of integrated education and training programs in child health care and widespread vaccination.
  • Dr. Kalpesh Shah, previous director of BJ Medical College's forensic science department, has been appointed dean. Sir Byramjee Jeejeebhoy contributed Rs.20,000/- in 1879, and the institution was renamed B. J. Medical Institution in his honor.
