Information on the Founder and Dean of the College & Establishment

  • Dharam Singh, a former Karnataka chief minister, established the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences. In 2005, he took the initiative to establish the university for the first time. After that, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh opened the university. 
  • Dharam Singh was a brilliant leader and strategist. He understood the importance of healthcare and education. He labored assiduously to improve the accessibility of healthcare and education for the people of Karnataka. The accomplishment of BIMS is a testament to his foresight and diligence.

Cadavers to practiceBIMS does not provide medical students with cadavers for training purposes. The state government provides the institute with a limited quantity of cadavers for educational and research purposes. There is a lengthy waiting list for students to practice on cadavers, and not all students can receive this opportunity.
