About College

Founded in 1937, Fujian Medical University (FJMU) is 80 years old. The university aims to develop an integrated education system with a nurturing environment for innovation. The university offers bachelor's, master's, and doctorate programs. In 2003, Fujian Provincial People's Government approved Fujian medical university among the critical universities for priority development. The university is in the bustling city of Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province in southeastern China. 

The faculty of FJMU is currently with the following faculty:

  • The current Dean of the college is Zhang Wenchang.

Programs Offered

  • FJMU offers 25 bachelor's programs across clinical medicine, preventive medicine, medical laboratory courses, nursing, pharmacy, social work, etc. 

  • Master's degree programs & doctoral degrees are offered in basic medical science, pharmacology, clinical somatology & clinical medicine.

  • The university offers undergraduate programs to students from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, & foreign countries as well. 

Affiliated Hospitals

The FJMU has around 13 affiliated hospitals and 29 teaching hospitals, which include:

  • Fujian Medical University Union Hospital- Located at the foot of Yu Mountain, the hospital has accommodation of 2,500 beds, with over 2 million out-patients and 110,000 in-patients, and over 100,000 surgeries performed annually. 

  • The School of Stomatology of Fujian Medical University - Founded in 1986, the Hospital of Stomatology carries out teaching programs and attracts dental students worldwide.




Infrastructure and Facilities

  1. Research Labs: The university offers 2 Research stations with post-doctoral fellowship programs. Seven key laboratories and research centers are supported jointly in coordination with the Ministry of Education & Fujian province.

  3. Campus: With an area of around 87 hectares, the university is spread through ample space and offers a floor space of 4 lakh square meters. The university consists of two main campuses:

  1. Fujian medical university library: Spread over 28k square meters. It consists of Shangjie Campus Library, Taijiang Campus Library  and the four branch libraries in affiliated hospitals. The library has a collection of over 1.5 million volumes. 

Scholarships

Fujian Medical University is qualified to recruit Chinese Government Scholarship applicants. High-Level Postgraduate Program scholarship is a Chinese government scholarship that selects international students with excellent academic backgrounds and future potential. Students applying for postgraduate courses (Masters or doctoral degree)

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Non-Chinese citizen.

  2. Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree under the age of 35 years if the candidate is applying for a Master's degree program.

  3. Candidates should hold a master's degree under 40 years if the candidate is applying for doctoral programs.

  4. Candidates should obtain a minimum score of 210 in HSK if applying for any Chinese-taught program. Candidates who have obtained a degree from a Chinese university in the Chinese language are exempted from the HSK score report.

  5. IELTS score of 6.0 minimum or TOEFL 70 if applying for English-taught master or doctoral programs. If the candidate has English as a first language or has done an English-taught degree program, then they are exempted from it.
