In 1898-99, he established the 'Berry White Medical School' in Dibrugarh, Assam, laying the foundation for health education and healthcare in the region. Over time, this medical school evolved, leading to the establishment of the Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, on November 3, 1947, which became the first medical college in Assam. As a result of increasing needs for health care and health education, Assam needed more medical colleges, leading to the establishment of Guwahati Medical College, as the second medical college in Assam in 1960.
