• In order to enhance the existing medical schools and bring the state's health care systems on par with the best medical institutions in the nation, the government of Jammu and Kashmir came up with a plan to open a batch of five new medical colleges across the state in 2017. One of the most recent medical schools to open its doors is Government Medical College Kathua. It is 4 km from Kathua, the district and sub-district headquarters of Chak Sajjan village, which is located in the lovely, scenic village of the same name.
• Along with MBBS, they also offer GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) courses, along with diplomas in pharmaceuticals and lab assistants. Since GMS is a reputed institution, pursuing these degrees can prove to be extremely beneficial for the candidates. However, since medical college is comparatively more expensive than other colleges, proper financial planning is required.

• The GMC in Kathua is well-equipped with a variety of cutting-edge facilities to provide a comfortable learning environment.
