• The city of Ongole within the Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh is home to the Government Medical College, Ongole, formerly known as RIMS Ongole. It first went into support in 2011.
• GMC Ongole has grown into one of Andhra Pradesh's premier medical institutions. Later formally established the cornerstone of the medical college. By Act 31 of 2007, the 37.23-acre Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ongole, was created as a semi-auto institute around July 1st, 2007, by Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, the Honourable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
• Under effect from December 28, 2018, RIMS has been officially renamed "Government Medical College." The present dean of Government Medical College is Dr. K. Solomon Raju.

1. Campus: The Government Medical College campus spans around 40 acres, and its entire built-up area is roughly 8,60,000 square meters. The OPD complex and the hospital facilities cover more than 5,20,000 square meters, while the college properties, comprising the residence halls, cover more than 3,28,000 square meters of space. 

2. Labs: An ultra-modern laboratory and open blood bank that is open 24/7 support the hospital. It has a special department of emergency medicine run by highly trained professionals to offer high-quality care. 

3. Library: The college's digital library is functioning and operating. All students have access to the same resources for surfing, searching for literature, accessing journals, etc.  Around 8287 medical books and several other categories like journals and much more are available in the library.

5. Hospitals: The 650-bed Government General Hospital in Ongole has cutting-edge facilities, including 18 modular operating rooms and well-stocked intensive care units. A round-the-clock supply of high-quality medical treatment is made possible by highly trained and paramedical employees. A group of committed medical professionals with extensive teaching, clinical, and research backgrounds in reputable medical colleges and hospitals around the nation run the GMC Hospital.

6. Hostels: There are separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. The rooms were neatly furnished, had bathrooms affixed, and had clean mess facilities available all the time. Up to 500 students can be housed in separate UG and PG dormitories for males and girls, with private and shared rooms available. The rooms are bright and clean, providing mattresses, closets, and desks and chairs for studying.
