About  College

  • Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Medical College, Ajmer, Rajasthan, one of the prestigious government medical institutions, was established in 1965. With Dr. S.P. Wanchoo, the superintendent of New Victoria Hospital, as its 1st Controller and Principal. It was named after India's 1st Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
  • It's one of the 6 government-run medical colleges in the western part of Rajasthan and the 4th to be established in the state. J.L.N. Medical College, Ajmer, was the 1st medical college in Rajasthan to start a Cardiology division in 1989.

  • Campus 

The campus is situated right in the middle of the city. Mainly citing the main departments in the main campus, excluding the Gynaecology and Obstetrics department, which is around 7 km away from the main campus in a separate campus.

The Microbiology department houses the Rajasthan State Reference Laboratory.

  • Library 

The central library on campus holds approximately 11,000 bound journals, some of which date back to the 1960s. Additionally, a recently constructed E-library provides access to electronic journals.

  • Hospitals

Jawaharlal Nehru (Victoria) Hospital - A teaching hospital called Victoria Hospital was established during colonial times. In 1965, it was renamed Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital and became the referral hospital of the Ajmer division of Rajasthan, including Ajmer, Bhilwara, Nagar, and Tonk districts. 

Kamla Nehru Memorial TB Hospital - This consists of the Respiratory and Chest division of the college, which treats TB patients in the region. 

Rajkiya Mahila Chikitsalaya (Hospital) - This division houses the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department concerning perinatal and maternal specialty care. 

Satellite Hospital, Aadarsh Nagar 

Post Graduate Institute of Cardiology – This division was Rajasthan's 1st government medical college to start a separate cardiology department. 

  • Hostel

Hostels are located on the main campus and are separated by gender. Separate hostels are allotted for post-graduate and undergraduate students.

  • Transportation 

Bus service is provided to students. 

Scholarship

In JLN Medical College, Ajmer, students get scholarships only if they qualify for certain norms and conditions related to their caste and financial status. Other than this, a number of scholarships are provided for MBBS students from the state government and Central Government. For example, the All India Pre-Medical Scholarship Test, the All India Youth Scholarship Entrance Exam, and the Nirankari Rajmata Scholarship Scheme.
