About College

  • Jorhat Medical College & Hospital is located in the city of Jorhat in the central region of Assam. Established on 12 October 2009, the institution was envisioned to provide healthcare to approximately 12 lakh people in Jorhat and surrounding areas.
  • The then Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh laid the foundation stone for the medical college on August 25, 2008. Dr. Dhrubajyoti Borah, former Professor of Medicine at Gauhati Medical College, was designated as the Founding Principal of Jorhat Medical College. At present, Prof. (Dr.) Ratna Kanta Talukdar serves as the Principal cum Chief Superintendent. The 4th medical college in Assam, Jorhat Medical College & Hospital is regarded as a benchmark for infrastructure and patient capacity and has achieved impressive outcomes since its inception.

  • To secure admission to the MBBS program, applicants should hold a 10 2 qualification with English and PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) subjects, with a minimum average score of 50%. Additionally, a valid NEET scorecard is required.
