Kurnool Medical College is a well-known government college that was established in 1957. The government of Andhra chose to establish a medical college within the state's Rayalaseema region when the state of Andhra was established in October 1953.
The Andhra Pradesh government issued instructions on November 29, 1955, to build Kurnool's third medical college. The government chose to admit 50 students planned for Kurnool Medical College at Kurnool City in July 1956 even though the college's building was not yet completed.
Each year, the Institute selects 250 candidates for both the undergraduate and graduate degrees. There are other diploma programs accessible.
