• Nantong University Medical School was founded in 1912 by Zhang Jian, and its predecessor was a private medical school in Nantong. It holds the distinction of being one of the earliest medical colleges in China.
• In 1927, it was renamed Nantong Medical College and later, in 1928, it became Nantong University Medical School after merging three institutions focused on agriculture, textiles, and medicine. Nantong University, established by the Jiangsu Provincial Government and the Chinese Ministry of Transport, is a comprehensive university with three campuses: Nantong Engineering College, Nantong Medical College, and Nantong Normal College.
• The university also has four additional campuses: a new campus, a Zhongxiu campus, a Qixiu campus, and a Qidong campus. Nantong University is recognized by the People's Republic of China's Ministry of Education and offers an MBBS program approved by the ministry.

• MBBS is the undergraduate medical course taught in medical college. The basic course structure includes studying of Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic medicine and Pharmacology.
• The MBBS undergraduate course runs for 5.5 years with a mandatory Internship training with the affiliated hospitals for the college.

• Campus: The institution presently includes 4 campuses, totaling more than 3,700 acres and around 1 million square meters of building space. The Medical School of Nantong University has excellent teaching facilities and specialized equipment for scientific research that can meet the demands of fundamental medicine, clinical medicine, and other fields.
• Labs: The university has several high-end research platforms, such as the National-local Joint Engineering Research Center, the Key Laboratory of Sinopec and the Ministry of Education, the Provincial Key Laboratory, and the Engineering Center. 
• Library: With 60 computerized databases and a total collection of 2.96 million paper volumes, the library is a Jiangsu Province institution dedicated to protecting old books. There are 5 academic journals and is a national social science journal with a CSSCI source publication.
• Clinical rotations: Internships are available for students at the affiliated hospital recognized as a National Excellent Hospital.
• Hospitals: There is an affiliated top-tier, nationwide comprehensive hospital that offers medical care together with education and research.  
• Hostels: International students can live in the South Dormitory and the North Dormitory on Nantong University's Qixiu Campus. Each room has an air conditioner, an attached bathroom, a closet, desks and chairs, bedding amenities, and laundry.

• Transportation: Students at the university can travel between the college premises and associated hospitals using buses and shuttles.
