About College

  • Smolensk State Medical University is a leading university in Russia founded in 1920. The WHO and the National Medical Commission recognize it.  The university offers undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate medical, dentistry, pharmacy, and nursing programs. It has 65 departments and 450 faculty members, including 92 doctors and 281 PhDs. 
  • The university is located in the Smolensk region, 360 kilometers (220 miles) from the southwest of Moscow. It is led by Chancellor Kozlov, who belongs to the American Society of Microbiology and the European Respiratory Society. Smolensk State Medical University is renowned for excellence in medical research.
  • The medium of instruction is Russian, but courses are also offered in English for international students. It has a multicultural environment with students from over 50 countries, including India. It aims to implement modern teaching methods and expand e-learning facilities. 

  • The university has well-equipped teaching hospitals, laboratories, and lecture halls with audio-visual aids. It conducts research in fundamental, applied, and methodological areas. The university is ranked 22nd internationally. Around 1000 MBBS seats are offered annually, including 150 for foreigners. Existing facilities can accommodate up to 6000 students for training.

  • Out of these 31 hospitals, 8 with approximately 6000 beds are used for student education.

Scholarship

  • The university offers a special scholarship of USD 500 every year during all years of education to all students of India taking admission in 2022/2023 academic year.
  • The tuition fee after subtracting the scholarship is USD 5500 per year.
