About College

• In 1900, the original Soochow University (Dongwoo Daxue in Pinyin) was established in Suzhou. Jiangnan University, Southern Jiangsu College of Culture and Education, and Soochow University were merged into Jiangsu College of Culture and Education in 1952 after national modifications for university departments in China. It was renamed Jiangsu Teachers' College in that year.
• The college was restructured and given the new name of Soochow University in 1982. Suzhou College of Sericulture, Suzhou Institute of Silk Textile Technology, and Suzhou Medical College were merged into Soochow University in 1995, 1997, and 2000, respectively.

• The most prestigious modern higher-education facility in China was Soochow University, which was founded in 1900 by the American Methodist Episcopal Church. Its Law School was situated on Kunshan Road in Shanghai, while its School of Liberal Arts and Sciences was at Tiancizhuang, Fengmen, Suzhou.

Infrastructure and Facilities

• Campus: There are three campuses in addition to the main campus, headquartered in Suzhou, China. The other campuses are Tiancizhuang Campus, Dushu Lake Campus, and Yangcheng Lake Campus. 

• Library: The Soochow University Library is the main focus of the campus, with a serene environment and rich history. It provides a productive environment for the students to study peacefully.

• Hostel: Students from other countries who are enrolled at Soochow University are housed at the university's international student apartments. The apartments provide single rooms, twin rooms and quad rooms, each of which has a bed, a desk, an air conditioner, a water heater, a refrigerator, an electric kettle, broadband Internet access and a private bathroom.

• Hospitals and Schools: There are 9 medical schools, four clinical medicine departments, and 17 affiliated hospitals.
