About College

  • Prof. Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, the founder and chancellor of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), is the mind behind the Symbiosis Medical College for Women. The concept of founding a medical college solely for women was conceived after watching the biographical film about Ms. Anandibai Joshi, the country's first female doctor. Symbiosis developed this particular medical college for women within the Faculty of Health Sciences to empower women and strengthen the nation by increasing the proportion of female doctors. Lt. Col. (Dr.) T. Vijaya Sagar. MBBS is the current dean of the college. 
  • The medical college is situated in Lavale, Pune, on the lovely campus of Symbiosis International (Deemed University). There ought to be 150 new students per year. Scholarships

  • Each year, Symbiosis Medical College for Women will choose and acknowledge five female students who placed first on the NEET test merit list to the Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program. These students will receive the Dr. Anandi Gopal Scholarship.
  • The scholarship will be awarded to the chosen candidates after the completion of the admissions procedure. Hostel, mess, and other fees will not be funded by the scholarship and recipients are responsible for paying these expenses out of themselves. The Dr. Anandi Gopal Scholarship Scheme stipulates that these recipients would get a full waiver of their tuition costs for each year of the MBBS program.

1.Q. Can a foreign applicant still need to pass NEET and apply directly to SMCW?

No. You must be NEET qualified and apply to MCC under the deemed university designation in order to get admitted under any category.

2.Q. Can I participate in the institutional stray vacancy round at other government, private, or deemed medical institutions after being admitted to SMCW?

If the mop-up round confirms your admission, you are ineligible to participate in any institute's stray vacancy round. 

3.Q. What number of seats are available under the management quota? 

There are 150 seats available, 127 of which are in the General category and 23 in the NRI category.

4.Q. What is the donation/capitation fee for NEET qualified (but not chosen) candidates seeking admission?

All admissions are processed in accordance with the MCC/DGHS (Govt. of India) standards, laws, and regulations. No category of admission to SMCW accepts donations or capitation fees.

5.Q. Is there a percentage set aside for those who are economically disadvantaged or have special needs?

No, there is not a distinct quota like that. There are just two categories: general and NRI, and all admissions are based on merit.
