About College

  • Yerevan State Medical University (named after Mkhitar Heratsi) is an Armenian medical university. It is situated on Koryun Street, in the center of the city of Yerevan in Armenia. Mr. Armen A. Muradyan is its current rector. 
  • The university was founded by the Government of Armenia in January 1920. In October 1920, Prime Minister H.Ohanjanyan and the Minister of Public Education G.Ghazaryan passed the decision to establish medical faculty at the university. On November 3rd, 1922, a school was established for training the medical faculty under the Yerevan City Hospital. The institute began with just 6 staff members. 

  • Today, the university teaches around 6360 students out of which 1184 are foreign students. There are more than 1100 professors in the university who perform scientific and pedagogical work. It operates two hospitals as well. The university organizes various research-oriented and educational activities in leading research centers and clinical bases in Yerevan.

Scholarships 

  • The university offers various nominal scholarships for deserving students. The nominees are chosen on the basis of academic excellence, knowledge of foreign languages, participation in international competitions or student scientific sessions, and participation in social activities.
  • The nominal scholarships have their own eligibility criteria and are named after various doctors, scientists, professors, etc. Some of the most notable scholarships are named after Mkhitar Heratsi, Ruben Sevak, Hakob Hovhannisian, Grigor Areshyan, Vahan Artsruni, etc.
  • Several fund scholarships are also available for the students. They are offered by the Youth  Foundation of Armenia, The Aegean Family Foundation, the Turpanjian Family Foundation, and many others.

Students are allowed to participate in the scholarships based on the courses taken up by them.

1. What is the fee structure of Yerevan State Medical University?

The fee structure depends on the level of the course undertaken. For undergraduate courses, the annual tuition fee is $5500 for 1st year and $ 5000 for 2nd to 6th year. For postgraduate courses, the fee is $6500 for the 1st year and $6000 for the 2nd year and onwards. The annual hostel fee is $600.

2. What are the entry requirements of the Yerevan State Medical University for undergraduate students?

The students must have reached the age of 17 on the 31st of December prior to the admission year. They should have scored a minimum of 50% marks in PCB and have passed all subjects individually in the class 12th exams. They must have qualified NEET with 50 percentile marks.
